Alma Yamel Núñez Castro, born in Mexico and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, holds a B.A. in Linguistics from UCR and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Spanish, with an emphasis in Latin American literature. Her research interests are the biopolitical and posthuman discourses of nature, science, animals, and subaltern subjects in Latin American and Latin@ science fiction. Additionally, she is interested in eco-criticism and analyzing post-colonial ecologies and urban environments in 19th and 20th century fiction.
